US 190 Feasibility Study
The Killeen-Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization has been working with local officials, residents, TxDOT engineers for several months. Our goal is to evaluate options for upgrading and possibly re-aligning US Highway 190 through central and eastern Bell County. Click on the image to the left for a full-size PDF of the five alignments that our working group has identified.
In the first working group session, participants brainstormed and drew a large number of potential routes – they looked at every possible combination to make a connection between FM 1670 in Belton and Rogers, where US 190 crosses out of Bell County. The next step was narrowing down the options and developing a set of criteria by which to select the most feasible routes. One route keeps US 190 on the existing alignment through Temple. Other alignments explore the challenges of constructing a new roadway some time in the future.
More information about the process and working group members can be found here.
Provide your input on these route options at the Open House this Thursday, at the Bell County Expo Center. The come-and-go event will take place from 5 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday, November 30th.
