There is a new trail open, and the weather is just about right to get out and explore! The Pepper Creek Trail in Temple has been a popular destination for runners, walkers, cyclists, and families for several years.
Brian Chandler, Director of Planning for the City of Temple, had this to say about the new segment:
“The Temple Reinvestment Zone funded the recently completed 2.5-mile northern extension of the Pepper Creek Trail. The most recent phase of trail construction is consistent with the original 2-mile trail system that extends from W. Adams Avenue (FM 2305) to Airport Road (Highway 36), including a 12-foot shared use path, benches, shade structures, water fountains (pets also) and dog waste stations. We are really excited about the additional pedestrian and bicycle connectivity provided by this phase to the McLane Company, Inc. offices at 4747 McLane Parkway, which supplements an existing continuous network of trails/sidewalks linking neighborhoods, schools, employers and the Crossroads Recreational Park (phase 1 is currently under construction) within the northwest quadrant of Temple.”
The shelters and water points will help you beat the Texas heat, and the clearly marked road crossings make sure you stay safe. Get out there and get moving, and let us know what you think!
